Soncho Karate Club team did so well at the International Karate Championships 2024 and a great time was had by all.
We all had a different goal in mind and everyone reached their new milestones.
We challenged ourselves, supported each other and most importantly we all enjoyed ourselves! Couldn’t ask for more.
Congratulations to Tej, Eliza and Smaira, they showed the most amazing attitude and learned loads. It was fantastic to watch them all do so well in their individual and team kata categories against some very experienced athletes. Smaira who showed a fantastic spirit on day 2 in her individual kumite event. It takes an enormous amount of courage to step on the tatami in front of such an enormous audience. Very proud of you all!!!!
Shaun showed a great form in some very very tough categories too. He performed his latest kata under pressure and even got to compete in the final against some very senior grades. A brilliant experience and great coaching skills that really stood out and helped the team thoroughly enjoy the day.
Natalie has been working on her grading katas and her goal was to test them under the watchful eyes of the referees. Not only she got through to the final round in both kata events, she even managed to bag a silver medal. Over and above what she had hoped to achieve.
There was a fantastic camaraderie and support from Sonchō family, thank you to everyone for making the day such a great experience.
It’s these opportunities that give us an invaluable experience and determination to get stronger and better than we were before.
